Thank you for showing an interest in this research.

We have been asked to recruit people to take part in research on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and Verian, an independent research agency.

To reach net zero, as a country we will be decarbonising how we heat buildings, to replace systems such as gas boilers with new low-carbon heating such as heat pumps. DESNZ want to understand how this transition away from fossil fuel heating may impact your business, and what policies, support, guidance or training you may need to aid your own conversion. This research is an opportunity for you to learn about low-carbon heating, how it might affect you and share your views as well as feed into policy making in this area.

Who are we?
Verian is an independent research agency, we have been asked to carry out this research on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).

Do I have to take part?
No. It is your choice, and no one will mind if you decide not to take part. Even if you agree to take part now you can change your mind later, and you do not have to give a reason. If you take part, you can also choose not to answer individual questions.

What will happen?
If you agree to take part in, and are contacted about taking part in this project you will be requested to complete a 30 minute online pre-task, and invited to take part in a group interview with participants from similar organisations to your own, or an individual one on one interview with one of our researchers between January and February of 2025. We will not be testing your knowledge, but simply asking for your views and opinions on your experiences.

The research will involve the following:
1. Completing an approximately 30-minute long online task.

2. Participating in a 120-minute online focus group moderated by a Verian researcher, or a 60-minute interview with a Verian researcher.

3. As this is a video call, you will be able to see the other participants in the session as well as the research moderators and they will be able to see you. Please ensure your onscreen username is just your first name rather than your full name.

4. With your permission, we will be video recording the discussions for analysis purposes only and the recording will only be seen by members of the research team.

5. Verian will not pass your personal details on to anyone outside of the research team and your name will not be used in the reporting for this project.

6. No details about you or your organisation will be shared with DESNZ.

7. Verian will delete all your personal information a year after the project ends.

Is this research confidential?
Yes, the information you give Verian will be treated as strictly confidential and what you say will remain between you and the people present in the group or interview. No names or identifying information will be shared in the final report.

What will happen with my data?
We treat all personal information as confidential and keep it secure.
No one other than the research team will have access to your data.
The information you provide during your interview will be used to inform our report and any personal data provided to us will be deleted 12 months after the end of the project.

Your name and details will not be shared with anyone and nobody will be able to identify you from any reports.
