Survey of UK industry stakeholders on their traceability, and assurance options and mechanisms

Section 1 - Introduction and aims

Thank you for taking part in this survey commissioned by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) and developed by consultancy firm ICF. We are grateful for your time.

This survey seeks insights into current practices and perspectives of businesses regarding their supply chains. The information collected will help identify evidence gaps on market practices and commodity trading, specifically for soy, palm, rubber, timber, leather, beef, cocoa and coffee. By sharing your experiences and practices, you will contribute to a comprehensive study in support of important environmental and sustainability goals.

This survey has five sections:

1. Introduction and survey aims.

2. Company info, including commodities used, due diligence, traceability systems, etc.

3. Supplier relationships and data sharing.

4. Customer relationships and data sharing.

5. Information about the respondent and willingness to participate further.

If most information is to hand, we estimate that the survey will take between 20 and 30 minutes to complete.

Confidentiality: Responses will remain anonymous. Findings will be reported at an aggregate level only, ensuring your company is not identifiable. Data will be kept by consultancy firm ICF for the duration of this piece of work for Defra, and then securely deleted.

Privacy notice: Personal data is handled per Defra’s privacy policy used only for follow-up research if agreed to, not for marketing, and not shared with any third parties.
