Introduction

We are pleased to invite you to take part in a consultation for individuals directly affected by discrimination in housing. The purpose of the consultation is to surface lived experiences of housing inequality and discrimination, which will contribute to the 'Study on equal treatment in housing in the European Union', commissioned by the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers of the European Commission.

Focus groups (online)

The focus groups (approx. 10 participants) will take place online in English and last three hours. Each focus group will cover a specific ground of discrimination (e.g. sex, gender identity, racial or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, religion or belief, disability and age), allowing participants with shared experiences to discuss common challenges.

Individual Interviews/Testimonials (online or by phone)

Additionally, we are organising one-to-one conversations in which you may speak in more depth about your personal housing story. Interviews may also be used to produce testimonials, consisting of a short narrative summary. Testimonials will only be published if you provide specific, explicit consent.

The focus groups and interviews will be conducted primarily between May and July 2026. For this reason, we would appreciate it if you could register within two weeks after receiving this invitation.

Practical information

Once we receive your registrations we will finalise the selection of participants for each focus group and contact you with relevant information, including the date.
